Camp in the A.M.

This week I have been going through a huge funk. My confidence has been in the toilet and I just haven't been able to find my stride. But thanks to you guys, I have been able to get back a little of the old me! I guess that this whole process of "coming out" was a lot more stressful than I originally thought that it would be. My life has litterally been turned upside down, but I am finally able to recognize these changes for what they are and accept them.

So today, at 8am, is the first time that the entire staff of my UCLA camp are finally going to come together and meet each other. Up until this point, all of the departments have been compartmentalized and have had no interactions, on the non-management level. So the Department heads (like me) get to do this 2 minute meet and greet where we introduce our staff and we talk about what we do. The example that we show has to be something that is above and beyond what we are teaching the kids how to do. I went through many different ideas (GIF's, flash movies, stop animation) before I decided on this single image. Not only is this one of the most complicated graphics that I have ever made, but it looks really good on a 1o foot screen!

So what do U guys think about the bird?

I have to agree. You are an amazing artist, but I am sure that you knew that already! I think that the camp will be impressed, but i am not sure if they will understand how complicated what you just did really was.

It doesn't matter though, because its far much better than most of the crap out in the world today. You should go into advertising. You have the right flare for that.

I love it. Incoporating the Gay Rainbow into the artwork is ingenious and very subtle. Although you're heading is "My name is eric and this is what I do", it can also be replaced by "this is who I am"!!

You have really impressed me. I work with photoshop for a living, and I have to say that I am jealous of your imagination and creativity. I have been looking threw your blog over the last few days, and I am pretty sure that you have a future in working with photoshop.

There are a bunch of kids your age that are going to take all of the work from the old farts like me. I really do think that you could be the cream of the crop for this new generation. Have you ever thought about being a professional artist?

Its great! I love how there are many different levels to this picture. All of your pictures can tell more than once story, and that is what makes you a great artist. I am sure that you did awesome today, so instead of wishing you luck, I will just congratulate you for being great!

OKAY!! We all get it! You are an amazing artist! Do you need to rub it in our faces all of the time!?

hahaaha! J/K!

This picture is deep. I didn't really notice the rainbow until later, but that's a great way to put a piece of yourself out there. Its not really in your face, but that's not you. You really know how to express yourself.

I don't know art, but I know what I like. And that is something that I like!

Just when I start thinking that I already know what a talented man you are... BAM!! You come up with something that just blows me away! When I put it on full-screen, it became even more amazing. I immediately saved it to my art clippings folder! I know that you *must* have thought about it, but... Perhaps you should cull through your works (take out those that you reject for some reason) and either put the good ones in an art book or a "how to" book for photoshop. I'm in awe!
