Summer camp mode!

UCLA ends its quarter on friday, and I start my camp on monday. So right now I am in camp mode hard core! I have my games and my lesson plans all ready to go. And I am getting all psyched up its going to be a fun summer!

I was hired towork for this camp for many reasons. The first reason being that I am an awesome graphic artist, but that is almost going to be secondary to the biggest job that I have been given this summer. The camp that I have chosen to work for wants to become more competitive with other summer camps that are more geared towards outdoor fun. However that is a very difficult thing to do when you have a staff of computer nerds. No offense to the techies that read my blog, but I was a computer science major and anybody who can pass abstract algebra has to be somewhat unbalanced! For the record, I got a B in that class, but anything that isn't an A isn't worth having on my report card, so I dropped the class. Not the point! My point! In addition to teaching the advanced graphics and animation classes, I am going to have to be the life of the camp! I am going to be the guy with all of the camp songs and silly skits. The loud obnoxious guy that screams at the top of his long and is a complete ass 24/7. The guy that all of the HS kids pretend to hate, but secretly wish they could be, and the guy that all of the little kids want to hover around at every waking moment.

The picture that I posted above is probably the reason why I got hired at the largest branch of this summer camp corporation. This is my staff photo from that summer camp on the island. This was the most fun that I have ever had in my entire life! The sheer amount of insane hijinks that went on that summer would be enough plot lines for atleast 3 National Lampoons movies! The thing was that we were working on Catalina island for 3 months, with no television, radios, or functioning cell phones! So the entire summer was all about drunken campfires and sex with everybody! I am kind of sad, because I have met my staff, and I have met the people from the other departments, and there is no way that we are going to have this much fun. I think that half of the people that I am working with would die of embarrassment and culture shock if they were put into a REAL summer camp situation. ANYWAY, I am somewhere in the middle of this picture and I have a hat on. It's like, "Where's Waldo"!

HAHAHAHA! O man that looks like a great time! I love that staff picutre! I doubt that was the one that the parents got to see! Am I right? I really want to be a summer camp counselor now! That would be soo much fun. Look at that picture it really looks like everybody genuinely likes each other. Good luck with you camp duties this summer!

You have to be the guy that is trying to sneak a peek at the other guys penis! That is so cute! Oh man it looks like eveerybody was pretty comfortable with their bodies and everybody elses in this photo! I guess that its true that summer camp people have no sense of what personal space is, because it looks like everybody is in everybody elses!

I hope that you are going to be able to make your computer camp more fun, but I could see how this is going to be difficult when the other guys thaa you work for won't be as into this as you will be. Good luck.

That looks like sooo much fun! Have you seen this movei called,"Wet Hot American Summer"? That was such a funny movie, and that is what your picture reminds me of! If you haven't you need to go and rent it now! It's staring Janeane Garafallo, David Hyde Pierce, Christopher Melonie, and Paul Rudd. Its so great!

Maybe instead of doing all the craziness all by yourself and becoming completely drained you can help a few of your fellow counselors become more outgoing! I worked at a summer camp one year. I was not prepared for the ammount of emotional maturity and social skills that a job like that would take. It was a great learning experience for me, and the one thing that I really took from it was that I need to put myself out there more often. I think that you would be great at helping others realize that they could be be silly and outgoing all on thier own.

I love your blog and this post inparticular brings back a lot of memories for me! I think that you are an awesome person with a great haed on your shoulders. Keep up the good work.

I LOVE THIS PICTURE!! It just screams friendship! Its soo heaar warming to see such a close knit group of people! Look at you guys that is so freakin adorable! I want to pinch you all on the cheeks! So if you have a hat on and you are in the middle, you have to be that boy that is pointing at the other boys genitalia! That is funny! I am way to old to be a camp counselor, and now I wish that I could go back in time and work as one because that looks like a hell of a good time!

I love this piture! It took me a second to figure out what was going on, but when I did, I could not stop laughing. I just have one question. If this is a staff photo of the whole camp staff, who's watching the kids in the background!?

It looks like you have yet another fan eric! haha! Sorry bad joke. So you taught diving at a summer camp with sharks in the water!? I think that you are insane! I would never go into a body of water where there were animals in the water ready to bite my leg off! That just doens't sound like fun to me! You Los Angeles people are crazy!

Why are the majority of the guys in this picture not wearing pants!? Not that I am complaining, but aren't those children in the background!? I dunno if that is exactly appropriate!

I was also wondering, is "skin diver" fancy talk for snorkler? Because I think that that is the only thing that snorkling could be! I have only visited Catalina for a day, and it was fun seeing things like the bufalo. But I couldn't imagine living on that island for 3 months! You must have an awesome imagination and sense of fun!

That looks like a lot of fun! I have lived in San Pedro right by the Catalina Express my whole life and I have never been to Catalina. Am I missing out on anyrhing? Or is it fun when you are hanging out with all of your co counselors?

This is why i should have went to summer camp! Apparantly all of the guys walk around with no pants on! I am sold! I could take a summer without my cell phone or TV if I had a cute guys ass to stare at. haha.

You shouldn't be so hard on the computer geeks. They are only as antisocial as you let them be. Help them come out of thier shells and you could have an awesome summer. They are like everybody else. They need to be shown how to have a good time.

Great picture man! I *love* Catalina!! It has nice clear water for snorkeling. Mmmm... snorkeling.

I hope you are very successful in leading the charge for your subordinates! Helping them come out of their shells should be easy for a man with your (many) talents!!

Great picture. I guess that I am not alone in realizing the fact that all the guys on the left side of the photo have no pants on! It looks to include you with the pantless wonders! hahaha! That is wicked funny. Keep it up.

ERic!, man summer camp sounds great abou tnow. I bet the kids are all over you hot surfer boys. I used to think my camp counselor was like a super cool super hero! i always wanted to be funny around kids like he was, I sometimes think of that when I'm teaching. anyway, I bet you'll be an amzing role model to all those boys at camp that need one, keep up the good work, and enjoy the summer. later.

This has to be the funniest picture that I have ever see! I especially love all of the kids in the background that are completely oblivious to what their counselors are doing up front! hahaa. You are a funny guy. I hope that you are able to channel the same kind of energy into your summer camp experience this summer. I know that all the kids will love you, because you just seem like a really fun guy.
